What Is So Good About Failure?

Everyone has their own failure; the feeling of failure is humiliating, image-wrecking, and sometimes, it can get you fired. But it is not as bad as we all think it is, if we just know how to handle and return what we have lost. Just like Walt Disney, he was once fired from one of his jobs but he did not stop at that, he tried a lot of things; he saw ventures and ended up in bankruptcy before becoming a big-time person. And as he said, “Move forward.”

But what makes some people fail and flail and others rebound? Experts who have experienced failure have answers which we can use:

Visualize the next big win. Believe in yourself even when others do not. The people who bounced back from failure are optimists who believe that their problem is temporary. Always think that for every problem, there will always be a solution.

In a crisis, bend. You cannot always get what you want. Adversity in childhood actually helps people to adapt and rebound. Resilient people know that they cannot control their world. The most successful perspective that could show failure is puberty – awkward, uncomfortable – but as transforming experience happens, maturity is up next.

Expect storms. Always think that life is going to be filled with storms. It will not be balanced if life is full of success. Associating yourself with possible failures will help you cope and think of the ways to counter the problems.

See yourself as others see you. The number one cause of failure is actually the lack of self-awareness. You must not step outside of your skin to adopt the viewpoint of others.

Take risks. In life, it is about taking risks. Just like in Mathematics, it is a trial and error process. By taking risk, you will know the things that would work and solve the problem and the things that will not contribute anything in solving it. Take risks without dreading failure. If you fail, you can always move on, get back yourself on track and try again with a different view.

Set your goals. Even if trials come along the way, never stop pursuing your set goals. Stay on track and focus on the things that you need to achieve.

Failure is not a bad thing if you know how to treat it positively. Failure saved many people’s careers because these people know the technique. If you have not failed yet, for the sake of your career and yourself, then you should.
